Why Does Baby Vomit After Feeding & Eating

Vomit generally means driving out contents of your stomach forcefully by mouth. There are many different reasons of vomiting, and the reasons depend upon age, time, places, weather and many other factors. Basically, vomiting occurs when something is not well digested by stomach, but, it’s not always the same. Kids and infants become more sensitive while growing up.

We can consider some pieces of data and knowledge which may enlighten the vomit queries: –

  1. Vomit is more traumatic when an infant is attacked by this situation and is unable to tell the awkward, irritating and uneasy feeling.
  2. Infants vomit after feeding means they may have some genetic factors like some foods affecting stomach. These may include a hereditary indigestion of dairy products or something else that needs to be finding out.
  3. Babies unknowingly swallow some alien things like toys, coins or even insects. Unless they vomit it out, it brings anxiety and strain.
  4. Sometimes, babies get over feeding which is more the amount their tender tummy can absorb. They vomit when the extra food forces to come out.
  5. Nausea and viral infections are a big reason when kids are compelled to vomit after every meal. Kids eat food at any time they are hungry. Nausea blocks the way of swallowing the food normally. Nausea can cause loss of appetite also. It has to be treated as soon as possible.
  6. Many kids have allergic reactions towards proteins. Soy, rice, oats etc can bring reaction in babies and young children and lead to routine vomiting after meals.
  7. Stomach flu is also a reason of frequent vomiting in kids. It’s an infection which needs medical help immediately.
  8. School going kids are more prone to developing infections from peers as children are too small to understand all clean habits to follow in absence of parents. Food poisoning is a common cause of vomiting.
  9. It is also said that first winters for babies is difficult to handle. Babies vomit after feeding because the chilly weather affects their health and they attract cold which blocks and irritates the buds followed by crying, feeling of uneasiness all the time and vomiting.
  10. Kids feel sick when they travel by cars or by air. Many kids have sickness while travelling and vomiting stays for a week or even more than 10 days. They feel indigestion not before but after a meal.
  11. Diarrhea occurs when either infants or kids eat anything that is contaminated. Though, infants are safer than grown up kids, but it’s possible they get attacked if parents are not particular about cleaning their bottles, their clothes, or other feeding utensils.

Vomiting can be easily controlled by applying some measures in daily routine and taking precautions. Before your child starts showing any signs of vomiting, take precautionary measures like:

  • Cleaning all the appliances regularly being used for your little one. Cleanliness of surroundings is equally important.
  • Try to consume foods that are not allergic to you while breast feeding as they may also prove allergic to baby’s health.
  • Put fruits and vegetables to thorough cleaning before serving them to your growing baby.
  • If vomiting is already attacking frequently, due to any reason, give fluids and water before dehydration follows.
  • Avoid giving any liquid or solid immediately after the vomit.
  • Don’t force kids to eat more than they feel like.
  • Encourage your child to take rest and sleep enough to improve digestion.
  • Give the oral rehydration solution (ORS) frequently after vomit issue.
  • Safe and clean water is permanent solution for the best of health.
  • Consult pediatrician if vomit continues with crying, irritability, loose stools, nausea, and fever.

Kids are most precious for all parents. Give the best you can.
