Having a long hair is a beautiful thing, however, maintaining it comes with a price. People with long hair face many problems. From maintaining its health, growth and just making sure it does not come in their way of daily activities. Especially while sleeping many times either it gets stuck behind your back, under your partner’s hand or it can even fall on your face irritating you, ending up with less sleep.

Here are some different ways as for how you can protect your long hair.

1. Put your hair in a bun

If your long hair is disturbing more often, try to put it into a bun. However, you need to be careful that you do not put it in a tight bun which can be painful and may cause a headache as well. Use scrunchies that holds your hair not too tight nor too loose. This also helps with split ends. Scattered hair causes more split ends. You can also put your wet hair in a sock bun which will give you curly hairs by the time you wake up in the morning.

2. Braid your hair

If putting your hair into a bun is not your choice, then you should braid your hair. Again just like the bun, the braid also should be loosely held and not tight starting from the nape of your neck. Else the time you wake up in the morning, the hair will look in the braided style even when you unbraid your hair. However, wet hair is not recommended.

3. Cover the hair

A lot many people with long hair find it comfortable to sleep when their hair is covered with a scarf or a piece of cloth. This helps in not a single hair moving out of its place. You can also use a headwear which is more comfortable to use in whichever way you desire put the hair inside the headwear.

4. Use satin pillow covers

Most of us are used to sleeping on pillows. Cotton pillow covers pull on the hair with friction causing damage to the ends and sometimes it can also cause pain. Hence, always use sating pillowcase. If it is out of your budget, use a satin wrap instead to cover your hair.

5. Brush your hair before bed

Before heading to your bed, make sure you untangle all the knots and the hair is neatly brushed. Do not pull it in a rush as it will only increase the hair fall. Use a brush with natural bristles or a comb that has wider teeth. Before brushing remove the knots slowly from your hands and then brush your hair from root to tip for few minutes.

However, the above methods will work only when you take proper care of your hair. Make sure you wash your hair regularly and with an herbal shampoo, as many commercial shampoos cause hair fall and split ends. If you have dry hair, wash it with a moisturizing shampoo and make sure you dry it before lying down on the bed.
