Female body has a internal process of different phases and Ovulation Cycle is one of them. If you are planning to conceive then you must understand ovulation cycle. Ovulation cycle will help you to know your most fertile period to get pregnant.

Follicular Phase

Follicular Phase starts at the beginning of the period, and ends when ovulation occurs in female body. Follicular phase usually lasts from 11 to 21 days.

Luteal Phase

Luteal phase starts as soon as ovulation starts, and continues on until the beginning of the next period. The luteal phase usually lasts for 14 days and can range from 12 to 16 days.

Menses

Menses refer to the bleeding phase associated with the period. Menses usually last from 3 to 7 days. Some women have 3 days menses period and some can have 7 days menses period but on an average menses period lasts for 4 days.

Fertile Period

Fertile period as the name indicates is most pregnancy prone period. If a couple have sexual intercourse during this period then chances are high to get pregnant.

Fertile Period typically starts from 3 days before ovulation to 2 days after ovulation, for a total of 6 days.

Fertile Period = 3 Days before Ovulation + Ovulation Day + 2 Days after ovulation

The best chance of getting pregnant is on ovulation day but it doesn’t mean that if a couple have sexual intercourse during ovulation period then pregnancy is 100% sure. It increases your chances of getting pregnant by having sexual intercourse during fertile period.
